 Matariki was  born from the god from his eyes that he put in heaven and that's how matariki was born.  Matariki the mother heals and the other ones do  wind, rain, food, birds, and freshwater they are the gods that give us life.  The matariki was discovered when  Maui  was on an island. Papa and Rangi got separated and then one child of their own got angry so he broke his eyes and that's how it happened.  Matariki represents Maori new year. What we do to celebrate matariki is fireworks, food, gathering and lights. We remember our family who have passed and do special things with our family. I will make my mum a milo and give her pancakes for breakfast.
